Who we are
Key Squad Mobile Automotive Locksmith (“Key Squad”, “we”) is a mobile automotive locksmith service operating in Louisville, KY and surrounding areas. We are a service-area business and do not operate a walk-in location.
Proof of ownership
We require photo identification and proof that you own or are authorized to use a vehicle before we will open it, cut a key for it, or program anything to it. Acceptable proof includes the vehicle registration, title, or a current insurance card showing your name.
If the vehicle is registered to another person or to a company, we require written authorization from the registered owner, and the person present must still present their own identification.
We will refuse service if ownership cannot be established. This is not negotiable and applies regardless of urgency, time of day, or how convincing an explanation is. If we have already traveled to your location, a service call fee remains payable.
Quotes and pricing
Quotes are given based on the vehicle information you provide. A quote given with accurate year, make, model, and VIN is firm and will not change on arrival.
If the vehicle or the fault turns out to be materially different from what was described, we will re-quote before performing any work. You may decline at that point and will owe only the service call fee.
Surcharges apply for overnight, Sunday, and holiday calls, and for locations outside our core service area. These are disclosed before dispatch.
Payment
Payment is due on completion, once the work has been tested and demonstrated to you. We accept card, contactless, and cash. We do not require deposits for standard work.
Workmanship warranty
Our workmanship is warranted for 12 months from the date of service. If a key, fob, or module we supplied or programmed fails as a result of our work, we will repair or replace it at no charge.
This warranty does not cover:
- Physical damage, water damage, or loss
- Batteries, which are consumable
- Parts you supplied yourself
- Faults arising from subsequent work performed by others
- Pre-existing vehicle faults unrelated to our work
Customer-supplied parts
If you supply your own key or fob, we charge programming labor only. That labor is payable whether or not the part accepts programming, because the time is spent either way. We cannot warrant parts we did not supply, and we cannot guarantee that a marketplace part will be genuine, correctly matched, or unlocked.
Limitations on our service
Some vehicles have key programming restricted to franchised dealers with no available aftermarket access. Where we identify this, we will tell you and decline the work rather than charge you to discover it.
We do not remove, disable, or defeat emissions control equipment, and we do not perform performance tuning. Our module work restores correct factory operation.
Liability
We carry commercial liability insurance and take responsibility for damage we cause. Our liability for any claim is limited to the cost of repairing damage directly caused by our work, and does not extend to consequential losses such as lost income, missed appointments, or towing arranged independently.
Vehicles with pre-existing damage, prior aftermarket electrical modifications, or components that have already been tampered with may carry risks we cannot control. Where we identify such risks we will tell you before proceeding.
Cancellation
You may cancel at any time before we are dispatched at no charge. Once a technician has been dispatched, a service call fee may apply if we have already traveled to your location.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under applicable consumer protection law.
