About
The shop other locksmiths call.
Most mobile locksmiths cover a wide range of work — houses, businesses, safes, and cars — with one automotive tool that handles the mainstream domestic and Asian market. That is a sensible way to run a locksmith business, and for most calls it is entirely sufficient.
It stops being sufficient the moment a Volkswagen with no keys, a Volvo with a dead central module, or a truck needing an engine module cloned comes through the door. At that point the honest answer from a general locksmith is “take it to the dealer” — which means a tow, an appointment days out, and a bill that frequently makes people wonder whether the car is worth keeping.
We went the other direction. Rather than covering more categories, we went deeper into one: the equipment, the training, and the manufacturer access needed to work the vehicles and modules that the single-tool approach cannot touch.
What that actually means
European key programming is the clearest example. Manufacturers like Volkswagen, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Jaguar, and Land Rover protect their security data far more aggressively than the mainstream market. On many of their vehicles the diagnostic port will not release key data at all, and the relevant module has to be removed, opened, and worked directly.
Doing that requires several specialist platforms rather than one, ongoing subscriptions and access credentials, and enough practice to do it without destroying a module worth several hundred dollars. It is a real investment and a real risk, which is exactly why most shops decline it.
The same applies to module work. Cloning an engine control module — reading the data off a failed unit and writing it into a replacement so the vehicle never knows anything changed — is bench-level electronics work, not locksmithing in the traditional sense. We do it because the alternative for our customers is a dealer quote that often exceeds what the repair is worth.

The name
You may know us as Key Squad 502. That is the same business, the same phone number, and the same people — we shortened the name to what most customers already called us. Older paperwork, van livery and listings may still carry the longer version while the changeover finishes.
How we actually work
Everything is mobile. There is no shop to drive to and no walk-in counter, which is deliberate — a car that will not start cannot come to us, so we go to it. Our vans are set up for bench operations, which means module work happens in your driveway rather than requiring the vehicle to sit somewhere for a week.
We quote firm on the phone once we have your year, make, model, and ideally the VIN. That number includes everything and it does not change on arrival. If the job turns out to be genuinely different from what was described, we re-quote before touching anything and you are free to decline.
We verify ownership before opening or keying any vehicle, every single time. Photo ID against the registration, title, or insurance card. It occasionally feels like bureaucracy when you are standing next to your own car in the rain. It is also the reason nobody else can call us about your vehicle.
What we won’t do
We do not remove or defeat emissions equipment. We do not perform performance tuning. We do not open vehicles for people who cannot establish they have a right to be in them. And we do not take a job we cannot do properly — if your vehicle is one of the small number where programming is genuinely restricted to franchised dealers, we tell you on the phone rather than charging a service call to discover it together.
We also turn down money fairly regularly on smaller things. If your fob problem is a four-dollar battery, that is what we will say. If your key will not turn because the steering lock is under tension, we will talk you through freeing it for free. Two minutes of honest advice is worth more to us than a service call you did not need.
Working with the trade
A meaningful share of our work comes from other businesses — independent repair shops, used-car lots, and other locksmiths who hit a job outside their equipment. We work as a subcontractor under their invoice or bill the customer directly, whichever suits.
If you are a shop that keeps having to turn away European key jobs, that is a conversation worth having.
How we operate
Ownership verified, every time
Photo ID against the vehicle paperwork before we open or key anything. No exceptions, no matter how inconvenient it is in the moment. It's what makes us safe to use.
The quote is the price
Firm number on the phone before dispatch, including the call-out. It doesn't move when we arrive. Genuine re-quotes happen before work starts, never partway through.
We'll tell you not to buy
If the fix is a battery, a free steering-lock trick, or something you can do yourself in the driveway, we say so. Repeat customers are worth more than one unnecessary invoice.
Stuck right now? Let's get you moving.
Tell us the year, make, and model and we'll give you a firm price on the phone — before anyone is dispatched.
Answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — including holidays.
