Where we’re genuinely different

The equipment gap is the whole story.

Most mobile locksmiths carry one tool that covers domestic and Asian vehicles. That’s a rational business decision — European key programming needs equipment costing more than a lot of locksmith vans, plus the training to use it without turning an expensive module into scrap.

We made that investment, and it changed what we can say yes to. When a Land Rover with no keys comes through another locksmith’s phone line in Louisville, there’s a good chance it gets referred to us.

  • All-keys-lost on vehicles that lock out diagnostic-port programming
  • Bench-level module work, performed on site in our van
  • ECM/ECU cloning and VIN writing — not just key cutting
  • Immobilizer data recovery at chip level, avoiding a module replacement

How it works

Four steps, no dealership.

The whole thing happens where your car is sitting — driveway, office lot, parking garage, or the shoulder of the Watterson.

Workbench inside the service van: a rail of lock picks, a diagnostic tablet connected to an OBD lead, and a Triton key cutting machine.
The bench inside the van — code cutter, diagnostic platform, and pick tools.

That bench lives in the van. The code cutter, the diagnostic platforms, and the pick tools all travel to your vehicle, which is why a car that won’t start doesn’t need a tow to get a key.

  1. Call with your VIN

Year, make, model, and ideally the VIN. We identify the exact key type and programming path, then quote a firm price — not a range that moves later.

  2. We dispatch to you

The right blank and the right equipment are already on the van before it leaves. You get an honest arrival window and a text when we're en route.

  3. Ownership verified

We check your photo ID against the registration, title, or insurance card. Every time, without exception — it's what protects you.

  4. Cut, programmed, tested

The blade is cut to your factory code and the key written to your vehicle. We test every function in front of you before you pay.

Straight answers

The questions we get every day.

If yours isn’t here, call and ask. We’d rather spend two minutes on the phone telling you something is a cheap fix — or not our job at all — than sell you a visit you didn’t need.

Do I have to tow my car anywhere?

No. Everything we do happens at your vehicle. The van carries key blanks, a code-cutting machine, and the programming equipment, so a car that won't start gets keyed exactly where it is sitting — driveway, workplace lot, parking garage, or roadside. Avoiding the tow bill is frequently the largest single saving compared with the dealership route.

How much does a car key cost in Louisville?

Most transponder keys land between $145 and $260. Domestic and Asian smart fobs run $220 to $420. European proximity keys — Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Land Rover — run $350 to $950, because both the fob hardware and the programming access cost substantially more. We give you a firm number on the phone once we have your year, make, and model, and that number does not change when we arrive.

Can you make a key if I've lost every single one?

Yes. All-keys-lost is core work for us rather than an exception, including on European vehicles where the security data has to be pulled from a module rather than the diagnostic port. It takes longer than adding a spare — 45 to 90 minutes on most domestic and Asian cars, two to three hours on later European platforms — but it does not require a tow.

Why do other locksmiths say no to my VW, Volvo, or Land Rover?

Because the equipment genuinely costs more than most locksmith vans, and using it wrong can destroy a module worth several hundred dollars. Sticking to domestic and Asian vehicles is a reasonable business decision for a general locksmith. We built our practice around the European side specifically, which is why those calls get referred to us rather than turning into dead ends.

How fast can you actually get to me?

Across most of Jefferson County, typically 30 to 60 minutes. Outlying calls in Oldham, Bullitt, and Shelby County take 40 to 60 minutes and we say so plainly. We would rather quote an honest window than promise fifteen minutes and leave you standing in a parking lot for two hours.

What do I need to have ready when you arrive?

Photo ID and something showing the vehicle is yours — registration, title, or a current insurance card. We verify ownership before opening or keying any vehicle, every single time. It is the line between a locksmith and an accessory to theft, and any company willing to skip it should worry you.

Can you program a key fob I bought online?

Often, and we'll try — but know the risk. Marketplace fobs are frequently the wrong FCC ID, locked to a previous vehicle, or counterfeit chips that won't accept programming. We charge a programming-only labor fee, and if the fob won't take, that fee still applies because the time was spent. Buying the fob from us removes the gamble.

Are you available overnight and on holidays?

Yes, every day of the year, and a real dispatcher answers rather than an answering service. Overnight and holiday calls carry a higher rate, which we quote on the phone before dispatching rather than adding to the bill at the end.
